If you are like any of my readers, you have high potential and are versatile at many things. You enjoy exploring life’s possibilities, and work is about gaining experience. You are committed to continuous education and personal development – striving to grow. You measure success on your ability to strengthen your character, to make decisions and be responsible. You want personal freedom so you can pursue things greater than yourself.

However, you have this feeling of being in-between. Something is missing. Everything is going well. You just cannot seem to find it, and it is puzzling. Maybe you are like this reader:

“I feel stuck. I am interested and successful at a range of things. I get much praise from people about the work I do, but I am not getting the results I want. I have shifted jobs a few times, and the diversity has made me better. I want more freedom and want to do the things that are meaningful and have an impact. I am also having trouble maintaining relationships. I immediately fit in anywhere but when I leave one job and go to another, I start over. The only stable relationship I have maintained is with my parents, but that is weak. Mostly due to their divorce at an early age and this just might be having an impact on other areas of my life.”

Can you relate to this?

Do you feel like something is holding you back from the life you want?

Do you fear time is not on your side, and you have to do something now?

Do you worry that if something does not change that you will end up where you just left?

If this seems familiar to you, then realize we have all been here at some point.

I have been where you are now.

I know what if feels like to feel stuck or at a dead end. Your growth as a person can outpace the world around you. This can have an effect on other areas of your life – financial, health and wellness, intellectual, professional, relationships, social and spiritual.

For years, I struggled internally about what I was supposed to be doing with my life. My expectations did not reflect the same expectations of those closest to me. My world views were changing, but no one was changing with me. I felt isolated and not understood. The things that were most valuable to me were suffering the most.

What I realized as my second career neared the end, I was living up to everyone’s expectations of what I should be doing. My focus was not on doing what was meaningful to me. Mentors told me I should do it this way, and my family expected something entirely different. I was trying to please everyone. Everyone seemed to know what was best for me but did not understand my passions and desires. I realized as my career progressed, I was not doing what I loved which was fulfilling my curiosity in the world and helping people.

Why I began coaching and this blog.

  • I love how honest you are Kirby. Social media makes it easy for people to present only the best sides of themselves. Facebook makes it appear that life is all fun family times, trips to the gym, and creative meals. It’s nice to be reminded that struggles are normal, and that challenges can be overcome. I agree with you 100%. The best way to work through these difficulties is with the support of a good friend or coach!

    • Thanks Jed. Honesty is very important to me and I want to be transparent. I have found that surrounding yourself with the right people makes all the difference. A support network can turn an obstacle into a hurdle.

      • Absolutely! And thank you for being such an encouragement to me on my writing and blogging adventures this year 🙂
